The Pulitzer Hotel in Amsterdam has had a makeover and last friday I was there to admire & taste the results! It is such an amazing feeling to be a tourist in your hometown. I have lived in Amsterdam for over 12 years now, but I have never visited this hotel. Everybody in Amsterdam knows the stories about the Ocean’s Twelve cast staying & filming here and all the other stars that spend the night in one of the beautiful suites.

Interior designer Jacu Strauss tried & tested every suite to give it a special touch & character. There is a Book Suite, for example, with an arch of books, including Ivana Trump’s autobiography…secret information I recieved at firsthand from the decorator himself, please don’t tell..Jacu has an amazing eye for detail. The vintage phones, the artwork and the gorgeous bathtubs & headboards bring class & warmth to every room.

Restaurant Jansz., the new & recently opened restaurant at the Pulitzer Hotel, was brought to life by Jacu & chef Cassidy Hallman, who worked in impressive kitchens in America. We sit down for a welcome dinner and try many different options on the menu! I wish I could do this every night! The guys in the kitchen work together like the have been doing this for years.

The Tuna Tartar is delicious, soft & full of flavour and I have never eaten a fresher Burrata. Every dish looks like it is styled for a fancy cookbook photoshoot. I’m not a huge meat eater, but damn those meatballs are good! I love the dishes with an Azian Twist, like the Miso-glazed Cod with Dashi Broth. Yummmm!

But the best is saved for last: dessert. OMG….We try the New York Cheesecake with Pistachio Sorbet &…..Red Pepper! After one bite, I know I won’t be able to stop. Gym time tomorrow! The Chocolate Cake with Salted Caramel Sauce & Almond Crumble is heaven on a plate. Check the photo I took and you know what I’m talking about. The sophisticated Coconut Panna Cotta with Lime Sorbet is a delicious fresh alternative. I wish I could have tried all the desserts, but that could have been lethal…

Restaurant Jansz. pays tribute to a famous Amsterdam 17th century craftsman Volkert Jansz, who embraced the finer things in life. And what a tasty tribute it is!
