The Spijker Quarter is an upcoming area in Arnhem, close to the city centre. Last year, a cool new concept: Bar + Espressobar + Hotel Spijker opened her doors. There are a lot of cute cafes and good restaurants in this area, like Look, Bistro Velvet, Vrijdag and Cosy. It is just a 5 to 10 minute walk from Spijker to the heart of the city. I spend the night in the Emma Suite with my mother.
The 4 comfortable suites are fully equipped. You sleep in a heavenly bed by Coco-Mat, 3 suites have a steam room (!), 2 have a bubble bath and 1 suite has a ‘normal’ bath. After one night in this bed, your bed at home won’t be good enough anymore, so be warned! I’m saving up for a Coco-Mat!
There are coffee & tea facilities in the room, the WIFI is excellent and after a day of shopping you can crash on the bed and watch a movie on the big flatscreen tv. The suites are situated on a courtyard, where you can soak up the sun in the summer.
For breakfast we sit down in the Espressobar, where we enjoy crispy fresh Turkish Bread, a boiled egg, cheese, ham, freshly squeezed orange juice and a special tea from the Tea Tales menu. After a good Latte Machiato, we are ready for the day!
After a long day of exploring the city and a loooot of shopping, we crash in Bar Spijker. What a cosy spot! The brick stone walls, the candles and the cute cushions give the bar a New York feel. There is an excellent wine menu! We looooove the Enate! Especially with the cold cuts and cheeses….Yumm! The service is friendly and I love the mellow music.
Spijker feels like a home away from home! Loved the room, the bar & the service. The bathroom and toilet are inside the suite and seperated from the sleeping area with a simple divider. Depending on who you’re going with, this can be a bit intimate…
Stay tuned for more hotspots and favorites in Arnhem!
