For years I lived in the East side of Amsterdam and this is still one of my favorite areas in the city. When I was invited to check out the completely renewed Hotel Arena at the Oosterpark and try some of the food at brand new restaurant PARK, I jumped on my bike to try and test this spot!
The renovation of Hotel Arena is in the hands of TeamV Architecture and TANK Interior Design. By using a lot of glass, an open structure, green and earthly tones in the design, the restaurant becomes one with the park outside. On the first of September the renovation of the hotel will be completed, but restaurant PARK is officially ready! The beautiful boutique hotel has 16 new rooms.
The restaurant has a big herb garden, so it is not surprising that the menu focuses on veggies & herbs. But there are also some tasty options for fish & meat lovers on the menu too, like a delicious Herb Crusted Lamb. Yummm!
My favorites on the menu are the crispy Kataifi Gambas with fresh mango, the Norwegian Scallops with roasted macadamia nuts and the tender, full of flavour, Herb Crusted Lamb. I love the ambiance with the candles, friendly staff and beautiful, warm interior. Try the Domain Pouderoux, Maury Vendange dessert wine! At your own risk… I would recommend bringing a bike or take a taxi home:-).
Restaurant PARK has a huge terrace, overlooking the beautiful green Oosterpark. A cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc, a cocktail and a dozen Kataifi Gambas… I’ll be back!
