Best areas for villas in Siargao

The best villas in Siargao are spread over 5 areas, and each one gives you a different evening. Catangnan, the stretch between General Luna and Cloud 9, is where most new villas pop up. You walk to the surf with sandy feet and drive to dinner. General Luna itself has fewer villas, but Tourism Road with its cafés and parties is on your doorstep. Santa Fe, just north of town, swaps nightlife for banana trees and the Philippine Deep surf break.

Malinao, south of town near Secret Beach, is where the beachfront villas are. Up north in Pacifico villas are few and far between, which is exactly why some people go. The main tourism area around Tourism Road is busier and livelier at night, so light sleepers find more peace in Catangnan, Santa Fe or Malinao. Wherever you book, Siargao Island villas are built for slow days and long swims.

Best villas in General Luna

General Luna is the base for a villa if you want dinner within reach and no cooking duties. The 3 picks below keep Tourism Road within easy reach, a few minutes by tricycle or no ride at all. Prefer a hotel or a surf hostel? I listed those in my overview of the best hotels and resorts in Siargao.

Las Palmas Villas: Las Palmas Villas is a tropical dream with beautifully designed rooms and a serene pool surrounded by lush plants. I ended my stay on Siargao here. Such a beautiful place! This wonderful property sits on Tourism Road, a few steps from General Luna Beach, and splits into villas with a private entrance and smaller casitas around the garden.

Thatched roofs, tropical wood and around 10 rooms in total, so it stays quiet even when the island is full. Every room has a private balcony. Breakfast is included and there is a restaurant and bar on site. It is a boutique resort with one shared pool, and a villa with a separate entrance gives you all the privacy of a villa with the restaurant just steps away. The perfect spot on the island!

Hilltop and Japandi villas near General Luna

Mango Tree Siargao: a hilltop villa in Tawin Tawin, 5 to 10 minutes by tricycle from General Luna. The infinity pool has a pool bar and looks out over the ocean, the kitchen is fully equipped and there is a barbecue for evenings with friends. Built for groups, so bring the whole crew and have the whole place to yourselves. Spend the afternoon in the pool area with that ocean view, then hop in a tricycle for dinner in town. Air conditioning, free wifi and a helpful team that can arrange transport and massages. A generator keeps everything running during the occasional power cut.

Haku Japandi Village: Japandi is what happens when Japanese calm meets Scandinavian simplicity, and Haku brings that look to Siargao. Clean lines, a minimal interior and a pool of your own, about 2 km from General Luna Beach. Close enough for a quick tricycle ride to dinner in town, far enough for slow mornings by the pool. A fresh change from the thatched roofs you see everywhere else on the island.

Pool villas in Siargao near Cloud 9

Catangnan, around Tuason Point, is villa country. Many of the newer villas here hide a plunge pool behind tall garden walls, with Cloud 9 about 10 minutes away on foot. This is the area for surfers who want a pool between sessions.

Kalima Villas: beachside villas in Catangnan, a short walk from General Luna Beach and about 10 minutes on foot from Cloud 9. Each villa has a saltwater plunge pool, a kitchen, an outdoor dining area and an outdoor shower. Guests love the professional staff here. The rocky beach out front is a playground for surfers and snorkelers.

Sueños Villas: 4 villas on Tuason Point, each with its own pool of 4 by 2 metres behind tall concrete walls and a roof of cogon grass. Starlink, a proper workspace, a queen bed and a single lounge bed for a third guest. A convenient location too: Cloud 9 and the centre of General Luna are both about 10 minutes on foot, and the beach is a few steps away. Pack reef shoes for low tide.

Siargao Island villas for groups and sea views

SEACLUB Siargao: the one for a girls trip. Villas from 2 to 4 bedrooms in Catangnan, each with its own pool, a garden and plenty of space to settle in. Interconnecting doors mean everyone keeps their own room and still shares breakfast. Massages come to your garden or room, and Cloud 9 is within walking distance. The largest villa sleeps 10.

Book here: SEACLUB Siargao

Tanaw Villas: tanaw means view in Filipino, and the name does not exaggerate. Choose between a 1 bedroom villa for 2 and a spacious 3 bedroom villa for 6, each with its own infinity pool, air conditioning and sea views. There is free parking for your scooter, helpful staff and the centre of General Luna is about 10 minutes by tricycle. Highly rated!

Jungle and river villas outside General Luna

Santa Fe sits just north of General Luna, a quiet area of local houses, long beaches and coffee at Marmelade or Bamboo Surf Café. You are 10 to 15 minutes by scooter from the bustle of General Luna, which is either the whole point or a dealbreaker depending on what you came for.

Manao Villas: a thoughtfully designed boutique resort of standalone luxury villas in Santa Fe, about 80 metres from the beach and right across from Philippine Deep, one of the bigger surf breaks on that side of the island. Your own pool, a freestanding bathtub, an outdoor tub with hot water and an outdoor kitchen. So welcoming! Banana and coconut trees for neighbours. Cloud 9 is about 8 minutes away, and in the rainy months a tricycle is the easiest way down the last island road.

Book here: Manao Villas

Villa Teresito: a hideaway for 2 right on Mahaybo Beach in Santa Fe, with its own pool, a kitchen and a king bed. It is one of the few places in this part of Santa Fe with a pool, and there is wifi and a workspace for the odd email. The beach is a few steps away, so sunrise swims are part of the deal.

Book here: Villa Teresito

Kalani River Villas: just 2 villas perched above a river in Santa Cruz, about a 10 minute scooter ride from General Luna. Each has an infinity pool that seems to run straight into the jungle, plus direct access to the river. Book this one if you would rather wake up to jungle than to waves, a memorable stay in the green heart of the island.

Something different: sleep in a jeepney

Jeepney Siargao: not a villa, but too much fun to leave out. A classic Filipino jeepney turned into a cosy room for 2, with air conditioning, an en suite bathroom and an outdoor shower with hot water. Your terrace sits in a lush garden in Santa Fe with daybeds and a hammock, a 3 minute walk from the beach and the Ocean 9 surf break. No pool here, but Starlink, breakfast on request and a story to tell back home.

Beachfront villas in Siargao

Malinao, south of town near Secret Beach, has a more romantic and tranquil atmosphere than General Luna, with seaside stays that cost less than those around Cloud 9. Walk out of your villa and onto the sand: that is the deal here, with warm water along the shore all year.

Sandy Feet Siargao: 4 villas with 1 bedroom each, located on the Malinao coast about 4 minutes by car from General Luna Beach. Who needs a pool when the sea is right in front of the ocean view villa? Every villa has a kitchenette, breakfast is brought to your villa each morning and the 2 family villas add sofa beds for extra guests. One of the more affordable ways to sleep this close to the water.

Nay Palad Hideaway: for those who want to splurge, Nay Palad Hideaway is where the glitterati go. Just 10 villas on Malinao Road with a beach for guests only, and the rate covers everything: meals, massages, surfing, island hopping and the airport transfer. No wallet needed once you are through the gate. Most villas have 2 bedrooms; only the 4 bedroom Perlah Villa has its own pool. Expect around 1,000 euros a night or more. This is the one you book for a milestone birthday, not for a fortnight of backpacking.

North Siargao: villas in Pacifico

Villas are still rare up north, and that is the appeal. Pacifico Beach, about an hour north and facing the open Pacific Ocean, is wilder: a white sandy beach, big waves, a laid back surf scene and coffee at Swell Café or Manu Brew. In North Siargao, kids wave at you, roosters cross the road and life moves slowly. I loved my road trips here on the wide palm tree roads!

Most places to stay up here are resorts and homestays rather than villas with a pool of their own. Villa Baleia Siargao is the exception: a 2 bedroom villa for up to 6 people with its own pool and a full kitchen, situated in a peaceful spot with easy access to Pacifico Beach. Travelling with your dog? Pets are welcome here. The last stretch is a scooter ride, so travel light and arrive island style. The ride from General Luna takes about an hour through palm tree country, so treat yourself to at least 1 night up here.

Yapak Beach Villas: prefer a restaurant and bar on site? Yapak is a resort of beach villas a few minutes on foot from Pacifico Beach, with an infinity pool and a pool bar to share with the other guests. Air conditioning, free wifi, daily housekeeping and even a tennis court, in one of the most peaceful corners of the island. Book a sunbed, order a cold drink and watch the Pacific roll in.

Prices and practical tips for villas in Siargao

The average price for a villa with a pool on Siargao is roughly 100 to 400 euros a night in high season. Villas with 1 bedroom sit at the lower end, 3 to 4 bedroom villas around Cloud 9 at the top, and Nay Palad plays in a different league. Split between 4 friends, one of the larger private villas often costs less per person than a boutique hotel room in General Luna, and breakfast on your own terrace comes free with the view.

Wifi, air conditioning and cash

Air conditioning is standard in most villas and almost all of them offer free wifi, but Siargao’s internet can be spotty. Working remotely? Ask about the speed before you book, or pick a villa with Starlink like Sueños. Many villas also have screens or a mosquito net, handy in the tropics. Ask if your villa has a generator for the occasional power cut. Bring cash: Tanaw only takes cash and the island ATMs do not always work, so withdraw money before you fly. Grab an eSIM before you leave home so your maps keep working on the dirt roads.

Getting around from your villa

A scooter is the cheapest way to explore the whole island, from around 350 pesos per day, and most accommodations arrange motorbike rentals for you. Tricycles cover General Luna for 50 to 100 pesos per ride. Bring your international driver’s licence and check that your travel insurance covers scooter riding. Many villa roads have no street lights, so book your tricycle home when you head out for dinner. Heavy rain can turn the dirt roads muddy, especially from November to February. My tip: look past the pool photos and check how your villa is reached before you book.

Best things to do in Siargao

The three island tour takes you to the white sand beaches of Guyam, Naked Island and Daku by traditional banka boat. Order the mango coffee on Guyam. I promise it is surprisingly delicious! Sugba Lagoon near Del Carmen has emerald water, kayaks and a diving board. The sunset electric skate tour rolls through General Luna at golden hour.

Loved my surf lessons at Mao Mao Surf: they run one of the best surf schools on the island. Go to Maasin River around 8 in the morning and you may have the bent palm tree to yourself. Magpupungko Rock Pools reveal their beauty only at low tide. My cafés, surf spots and the street food at Sunset Bridge are all in my complete guide to things to do on Siargao Island. I follow my own Siargao routine pretty religiously when I am here. Curious about my other surf towns? Browse all my Sri Lanka recommendations.

Do villas in Siargao have their own pool?

Most villas in Siargao do, but not all of them. Tanaw, Kalima, Sueños, SEACLUB, Haku, Manao, Kalani River Villas, Mango Tree and Villa Baleia each come with a swimming pool that is yours alone. At Las Palmas you share the pool with the other guests, at Nay Palad only the largest villa has its own pool and Sandy Feet skips the pool altogether in favour of the sea.

How do you get to your villa in Siargao?

Fly to Siargao Airport in Del Carmen on a propeller plane from Cebu or Clark, then drive 45 to 60 minutes to General Luna. Santa Fe and Malinao are another 10 to 15 minutes from town.
