The Best Surf and Yoga Retreats
1. Dreamsea Surf Camps
France, Portugal, Sri Lanka, Nicaragua, Bali and Spain
Those who follow me on Instagram have already seen me at beautiful Dreamsea locations in different corners of this planet. Time and time again, I come home with the most amazing memories. The glamping tents are beautiful and fully equipped. You book a week’s stay including meals, surf lessons and yoga classes. If you prefer not to sleep in a tent, check out the quieter surf house near Sintra in Portugal or book your stay at the insanely beautiful Dreamsea hotel in Ahangama, Sri Lanka. This is truly a paradise on earth.

Ericeira, Hiriketiya (Sri Lanka) and more
All locations are photogenic, comfortable and run with real care. I absolutely loved my stay at The Salty Hiriketiya in Sri Lanka. Heaven on earth. The Ericeira location on Portugal’s Atlantic coast is equally worth the trip. Both are perfect bases for combining consistent waves with daily yoga and genuinely good food. Book The Salty Hiriketiya or the Ericeira location.

5. Amoha Surf & Yoga
Taghazout, Morocco
Amoha is one of those finds that stops you mid-scroll. A boutique surf and yoga retreat set in the hills above Taghazout, Morocco’s most beloved surf village, close enough to great waves to make the daily drive part of the ritual. The combination of mountain calm, Atlantic swell and Moroccan food is genuinely hard to beat, and the small group sizes mean the quality of instruction stays high throughout your stay. A special island in the philippines
6. Mao Mao Surf, Siargao, Philippines
General Luna, Siargao
Siargao is the surf capital of the Philippines and Mao Mao Surf is consistently the best surf school on the island. They combine affordable accommodation with top-tier lessons, a rare combination. The instructors know every break on the island by heart and match each surfer to the right spot. Beginners head to Jacking Horse and Ocean 9 for forgiving waves on sandy breaks; intermediates get sent further afield. Mao Mao is almost always fully booked, so reserving your spot well in advance is the smart move. The vibe is relaxed, the community is welcoming and the island does the rest.

10. Soul & Surf

India is the spot to practice yoga, and Soul & Surf knows exactly how to combine that with surfing. The reviews are consistently strong, the sunset views are hard to beat and Sunday BBQ nights at the Sri Lanka location are a ritual I keep coming back for. Book Soul & Surf Sri Lanka HERE. What many people do not know is that Soul & Surf also runs retreats in Lagos in the Algarve, which is actually where I first discovered them. 11. Solid Surf House, Weligama, Sri Lanka
Weligama, Sri Lanka
Tucked between Weligama and Midigama on Sri Lanka’s south coast, Solid Surf House is the kind of place you book for a week and immediately wish you had booked for two. I spent a week here and never wanted to leave. The rooms are spotless and beautifully designed, with a rain shower that makes every morning feel like a small luxury. Breakfast and dinner are included five nights a week, with themed evenings ranging from Sri Lankan rice and curry nights to full BBQ spreads. Two surf sessions a day keep you busy, and the yoga shala runs morning Vinyasa and afternoon Yin to balance it all out. Beginners head straight to Weligama’s beach break; intermediates hop on a tuk-tuk to nearby reef spots. The instructors are calm, patient and very good at what they do.

Surf and yoga retreats: frequently asked questions
What is a surf and yoga retreat?
A surf and yoga retreat combines daily surf lessons with yoga classes, usually over five to fourteen days. Meals, accommodation and instruction are typically included in one package. Most retreats cater to all levels, from complete beginners to intermediate surfers. The yoga component varies from gentle morning stretching to full Vinyasa or Yin programs.
Which destination is best for a beginner surf and yoga retreat?
Sri Lanka and Portugal are the most beginner-friendly options. Weligama in Sri Lanka has a long beach break with no reef, which makes learning much less intimidating. The Ericeira area in Portugal offers consistent Atlantic waves with solid surf schools nearby.
How much does a surf and yoga retreat cost?
Prices vary widely. Budget-friendly options in Sri Lanka or the Philippines start around 700 to 900 euros per week including accommodation and meals. Mid-range retreats in Portugal or Costa Rica run between 1,200 and 2,000 euros. Luxury options like Nay Palad or Escape Haven can go well above that.

Do you need surfing experience before booking a retreat?
No. The majority of retreats welcome complete beginners and split guests into groups by level. You will usually fill in a short questionnaire before arrival so instructors can prepare accordingly. Most people catch their first wave on day one.
What should you pack for a surf and yoga retreat?
Reef-safe sunscreen, a rash guard, light yoga clothes and flip flops cover most of it. Boards and yoga mats are always provided. A Saily eSIM is worth downloading before you leave so you have data from the moment you land without paying roaming fees.
