A Night at the Hoxton Amsterdam
Since 2004 I am a part of the population of Amsterdam. I feel at home here & know a lot of great spots nowadays! When I ride my bike along a canal-side road and I watch people boating while they enjoy a cool glass of wine, I feel like a tourist in my hometown: I can still be full of wonder. I usually sleep in my own bed, but a test night in the new hotspot The Hoxton at the Herengracht, brings that ‘hometown tourist’ in me back to life! ♥
The Hoxton is very well located & close to one of my favorite areas in the city: The 9 Streets. I have written two posts about two hotspots in the area: Ree 7 & Pluk, these are worth a visit and just around the corner! What a unique raw urban vibe this hotel has. You could spend hours working on your laptop in the lobby, hanging on a couch with girlfriends while you enjoy a good glass of wine or eat a tasty dinner at restaurant Lotti’s. Nothing uber fancy, but cosy & comfortable. Add some high quality cocktails to that list and you see: I found my new hangout!
Our room is clean and comfortable. I was looking for labels on the matress & the duvet, because I need to buy these for my own home! What a comfy bed! There are funny details everywhere in the room, like a ‘crap drawer’ with a corkscrew for example… There are old, pretty postcards, a handwritten note and, OMG, original Dutch Stroopwafles..yummmm! The WIFI is fast and there is no password required. The view over the canal is postcard worthy.
For breakfast you just hang your Breakfast Bag outside your door and in the morning it is filled with a light breakfast with granola, yoghurt, orange juice & a banana. You can make your coffee or tea any time of the day, because of the water boiler in the room. So be aware, this breakfast is a LIGHT one! If you fancy a bit more to eat, you can order from the roomservice menu, or go downstairs to Lotti’s.
I wil definitely be back! A new date with my friend has been planned already! So even if you don’t spend the night here, the Hoxton is a great spot to work with a good cup of coffee, drink tasty cocktails with your friends or enjoy the amazing food at Lotti’s Bar & Grill. Highly Recommended!
