Rainbow Bungalows: perfect budget stay
That the islands of Thailand are a great holiday destination is no secret. There are luxury resorts & spa’s on almost every beautiful beach. But as much as I enjoy those resorts, the simple ones can be just as special (as long as they’re clean & safe). The Phangan Rainbow Bungalows are on the quiet beach of Baankai. They’re basic, but spacious & clean. We even had a bathtub!

The Rainbow Bungalows are run by a warm family, that will make you feel like one of them when you arrive. Po and Noy run the kitchen, dad is the driver, and grandma is around for some social talk every now and then. Po and Noy are great cooks and are more than happy to teach you how to make a world-class Tom Yun Kung.
You will find your zen here. There are hammocks and daybeds on the property. And if you want a little adventure, you just rent a scooter for about $2 at the neighbours and drive for 5 minutes to the village nearby. A walk along the beach will give you a couple of good diner options too. The pictures below are all made near the bungalows!
