Basílio
Three words: “Red Velvet Pancakes.” OMG! As I bravely start munching on the red spectacle on my plate in Alfama, I hear passersby softly and admiringly whisper “wooow”. The pancakes are a true showstopper. For your taste buds too. You will find a photo below..

The Folks: coffee brewers and soul cooks
Love the name! At this congenial cafe, opened in June 2022, you can order the best specialty coffees and delicious brunch dishes. Not laptop friendly though… They told me I could only sit at a tiny table in the back (even for only 30 minutes). From the same owner as Bloom Café.
R. dos Sapateiros 111
Dear Breakfast
The various locations of this popular concept are always busy, so prepare to wait in a small queue. During the week you can make reservations here, but on weekends unfortunately not.

THE ULTIMATE FOODIE TOUR IN LISBON
Cotidiano
Ordered way too much and still ate it all. That’s a good sign right? Try the “Passion Fruit Pancakes” with “passion fruit curd. Heaven! The papaya with coconut yogurt and granola is also delicious. The matcha latte is served decorated with a flower…

Break Café
What a cozy café in Alfama! I walked by this place by coincidence and glanced inside. Both the dishes and the decor looked awesome! During my next visit to Lisbon, I will definitely visit this lovely spot.
R. do Poço dos Negros 73
Manjerica
Everything here is photogenic, delicious and organic. Even the peanut butter is homemade! Finish your brunch with the Affogato (coffee with ice cream)… Pro tip: you can also order it for 2, in an extra-large glass.

Bloom
Maybe a bit a little bit of a walk when staying downtown, but Bloom is definitely worth a the Uber! Fantastic menu that will make a possible hangover disappear like snow in the sun. From the same owner as “The Folks,” so the coffee is excellent too.
Calçada Pampulha 42
Pop Cereal Café
I discovered this unique spot while “climbing” Bairro Alto. Colorful cafe, slightly hysterical, with freak shakes and special bowls for sweet tooths. Cafe & store.

AMAZING DAY TRIP TO SINTRA & CASCAIS
Zenith Brunch & Cocktails
This all-day brunch spot knows how to serve brunch. The very extensive menu includes ‘Oreo French Toast’, ‘Shakshuka’ and a ‘Brazilian Acai Bowl’. Add to that about eight different options for pancakes, nachos, bagels and a list of very tempting cocktails and you know you’re in the right place to start your day. Zenith has locations in Lisbon, Porto, Madrid and Barcelona.
Rua do Telhal, nº4ª
Flat Café
A brunch with Scandinavian influences. In addition to classic brunch dishes and good coffee, there are also potato cakes and various “smórrebrod” options on the menu. If you are lucky, you can sit on the super beautiful terrace!
Tv. do Cabral 36
MY NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN LISBON
Comoba
At this hipster hangout, you can order a “charcoal latte” with “matcha pancakes” as if it were the most normal thing in the world. Prices are a bit on the high side though….

Shakar
The owners worked for Emirates Airlines for a long time and incorporated their travel experiences into a special menu. For example, here you can order “Breakfast Tacos,” “Chicken Waffles,” “Turkish Eggs” and “Shakshuka”.

Café Janis
The photogenic Café Janis is always crowded and noisy. Try to find a table by the window, where the acoustics are better. Café Janis is also a very cozy hangout in the evening.
R. Moeda 1A
Seagull Method
On weekends, you get a “complimentary glass of house champagne” at this popular brunch spot. Of course, you don’t have to tell me that twice….

Nicolau
I was a little hesitant about including this spot in the list because the service is extremely slow and slightly arrogant, but the dishes are very tasty! From the same owners as Basílio.

WHERE I STAYED DURING MY DAYS IN LISBON
Best Pastel de Nata at Manteigaria!
(various locations around the city)
Walking from the famous Tower of Bélèm to the creative LX Factory, I decide to get a pastel de nata. At the famous shop ‘Pastéis de Bélèm’ is a giant queue, but to my surprise I find myself at ‘Manteigaria’ across the street, recommended by a good friend, with only 2 locals in the store. These locals stock boxes full of the little custard pastries, so I know immediately that I have made the right choice. After 1 bite of the warm pastry, I consider emigrating to Lisbon.
Other great brunch options:
Heim Cafe (from the same owner as Seagull Method)
Fauna & Flora
Oui mais Non (big fan of the name)
Amélia (from the same owners as Basílio and Nicolau)
