1. Arca
Almost every summer you will find me in Portugal. I am in love with Lisbon, the beautiful beaches and most of all: the cuisine. Restaurant Arca is also known as the Portuguese treasure chest of Amsterdam. I totally agree! Here you can taste the refined flavors of Portugal. Start the evening with one of the creative cocktails in the bar and try “The Navio” with Don Julion Blanco Tequila, Cointreau, supasawa, kaffir lime leaf, olive oil and chili pepper… if you dare. The bread at Arca is served with smoked butter with ‘rosemary dust’. The ‘Bulhao Pato Clams’ are a must and taste exactly like the ones I had at my favorite wine bar in Lisbon. Highly recommended!

2. La Nostra Gigi
On April 7, this colorful trattoria opened its doors at the Marie Heinekenplein. ‘Our Gigi’ has an awesome, colorful interior! Linger on the terrace for an afternoon, have lunch with your mom or find a spot on one of the pretty benches, with oysters and a good glass of wine. Cocktails? Nessun problema! Sumptuous dining? Certamente! La Nostra Gigi serves tasty Italian dishes. Try the corvina and the divinely delicious truffle pasta! The presentation of this pasta is quite an experience….

3. The Chupitos Club
At first I didn’t quite know what to expect at this shooter bar, but ooooh what a fun evening I had here. The dishes on the menu are very tasty. Try the “Pani Puri” balls with pulled chicken, coconut curry and cilantro. The ceviche and Pao de Queiljo (Brazilian cheese rolls) are also a delight. There is a huge number of good cocktails and colorful shots on the menu and all under the motto: “Come for dinner, stay for the party.”

The bar seems to regularly catch fire, but that’s part of the preparation of some of the shots…. Flambé and with a marshmallow; what more could you want? Around 23:00 the tables go aside and you can dance here until the early hours. During the monthly events ‘The Last Chupper’ and ‘The Day After’ (brunch) there is entertainment provided by Non de Gène, so keep an eye on the calendar!

4. Deck
Amsterdam is getting a new summer hotspot. A new stylish terrace opens in Amsterdam Noord this month including a packed calendar of events, pop-ups and DJ sets. Open every day from noon to 23:00, Deck features a menu of street food bites, from “Takoyaki Octopus Balls” and falafel to “Sticky Karaage Chicken. Deck’s jetty has space for boats to dock, so you can also enjoy a drink in the sun by boat. If you like it so much that you want to stay overnight, you can, because Deck is part of YOTEL Amsterdam!
