Two nights at Park Inn Antwerp Berchem

Don’t ask why, but it has been over 8 years, since my last visit to Antwerp. It is so close to my hometown Amsterdam! After receiving an invite to come stay at the brand new Park Inn Antwerp Berchem, I pack my bags and jump on board of the Thalys for a new ‘rendez-vous’ with this beautiful city!

With the Thalys, booked at NS International, I travel from Amsterdam to Antwerp comfortable, sustainable and in record time. In just 1 hour and 15 minutes, while enjoying a small meal, some wine and catching up with my friend, I arrive at the impressive Antwerp Central Station. This is one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. 1 more stop with a ‘normal’ train and we are right in front of the Park Inn Antwerp Berchem.

The reception is friendly. We drink a refreshing glass of water with lemon and mint and within no time we walk into our ‘chambre’. The room is fully equipped. We have a huge bed, tea and coffee facilities, bathroom amenities with a delicious scent and a large rain shower. I can lie down in this shower! There is a ChromeCast connected to the TV! Yessss Love Island UK it is tonight! I connect my iPhone to the TV and spend the rest of the night binge watching my educational guilty pleasure. How to loose a guy in a day…. After a good night sleep it is time for the highlight of our stay: breakfast. OMG I don’t know where to start: fresh juice, water with lemon and mint, delicious granola, croissants, donuts in all the colors of the rainbow and… red velvet muffins. HEAVEN. The meat and cheeses are high quality and everything looks so good! It has been a while since I had a hotel breakfast like this! What a food fest… Guess I’ll be in the gym every day next week. YOLO! As long as I can still fit into my red velvet Thalys chair on the way back home, I’m not bothered…

To get into the city centre of Antwerp from Park Inn Antwerp Berchem, you can hop on a tram or train, right in front of the hotel. The train ride is less than 5 minutes from Antwerp Berchem Station to Antwerp Central Station. By foot you need about 40 minutes.

The hotel has a pool table and a gym, that I didn’t use in the two days I was there…Maybe I should have after breakfast:-)

We had a lovely stay at the Park Inn Antwerp Berchem. Our room was comfortable, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was amazing! The only thing that was not perfect, was our dinner at the hotel. My glass of white wine was not my favorite and the food, especially my Vol au Vent, looked like it was prepared using canned food. The price range is a bit high for what you get. If they upgrade the food and wine in the restaurant to the level of the breakfast, you will not have to leave the hotel at all!
