The Giri Café – San Juan Ibiza
One of my favourite discoveries on my latest trip to Ibiza was the Sunday market in San Juan. Before we started shopping we needed a good cup of coffee to start the day. We walked over to The Giri Café and I am so glad we did. If you are still building your Ibiza itinerary, my Ibiza tips and hidden gems guide covers everything worth knowing before you go.

The Giri Café: what to expect
The Giri Café opened its doors in 2011 and is run by the owners of The Giri Residence. The breakfast and brunch menu is the highlight: toast with salmon, a small yoghurt with organic granola and a boiled egg is one option, but the menu has plenty more. All products are organic, grown in their own garden or at The Giri Farm just a short drive from San Juan. Everything is seasonal, and the kitchen has a strong commitment to recycling and minimal waste. A properly green spot in the best sense of the word.
After coffee I wandered into the restaurant for a look around and found a beautifully decorated interior and a garden full of herbs, tomatoes, strawberries and flowers. That combination of laid-back atmosphere, organic produce and considered design is exactly what I love about this part of Ibiza. The café is located right at the market, so it is impossible to miss. We visited during the day, but the space would look wonderful at night too.

Getting to The Giri Café and around San Juan
San Juan is in the north of the island and best reached by car. The village is one of the most charming on Ibiza, and the surrounding countryside is worth exploring properly once you have had your coffee. I always compare rates at Discover Cars before every trip. My Ibiza car rental guide covers which car to book, which roads need a 4×4 and what to watch out for at pickup.

The Giri Café: frequently asked questions
Where is The Giri Café located?
The Giri Café is located at the Sunday market in San Juan in the north of Ibiza. It is run by the same team as The Giri Residence and is open for breakfast, brunch and lunch. A car is the most practical way to get there. I recommend booking through Discover Cars for the best rates.
What is on the menu at The Giri Café?
The menu focuses on organic, seasonal produce from their own garden and The Giri Farm nearby. Breakfast and brunch are the strongest options: think toast with salmon, granola with yoghurt and freshly boiled eggs. The full menu also covers snacks and light meals throughout the day.

What else is worth doing near San Juan?
The Sunday market itself is a great morning out. After The Giri Café, the drive north through the Ibiza countryside is worth taking slowly. For more restaurant recommendations across the island, my favourite restaurants in Ibiza guide covers the best spots from north to south. For a full day on the water, the sunset boat party is one of the best things you can do on the island. And if you have time, Formentera is just 35 minutes by ferry and worth adding to any Ibiza trip. As I shared on my Instagram, the north of the island keeps surprising me every visit.
Where should I stay near San Juan?
The best area to base yourself is around Santa Gertrudis or San Rafael, centrally located and within easy reach of San Juan and the north. MalaQuita Hotel Boutique is my top pick on the island, with Can Sastre a close second for a restored finca with beautiful gardens.
