Caves Branch Adventure Lodge, Belize
After my stay at the beautiful Blancaneaux Lodge, owned by Francis Ford Coppola, it is time to head to my next stop: Caves Branch Lodge. I will be spending a couple of nights in a Treehouse, surrounded by howler monkeys! Caves Branch Lodge is an adventure lodge and no luxury resort. Although my Treehouse would shine in every magazine. They offer some amazing tours and every night the staff will ask you what you would love to do the next day. I booked the Black Hole Drop: repelling 300 ft, and the 7-Miles-Cavetubing-tour, including a ziplining adventure….
During the 7-Miles-Cavetubing-tour I am floating through impressive caves on a rubber donut. We find ourselves in underground rapids (‘Butts Up!’: for shallow waters..) and spot beautiful birds & monkeys in the jungle. Make sure you wear the right footwear! I would highly recommend THESE shoes. After cavetubing it is time to go ziplining! It has been some time since I last tried this.. Whaa!!! I try to hold on to my GoPro with one hand to film, while I fly over the jungle like Jane chasing Tarzan. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen some photos already…
What I love about Caves Branch is doing all these cool activities during the day, catching up with other guests at night and exchange stories of the day. The lodge switches of the WIFI during meals so people start talking to each other. Social time!
There is a beautiful botanic garden on site and a cheese house! Ask for a tour. The only thing I missed in my room was a mosquito net. Because of the location in the middle of the jungle it would be nice to have one here. I always bring my own when I travel. Just in case… THIS is the one I bring.
